Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the richest man in Africa has slid 50 places down on Forbes financial list. Dangote with a net worth of $12.2 billion is now 105th in the world from his former 51th position in 2016 with $15.4 billion worth.
Although lesser with his new worth, Dangote is still Africa’s richest and South African Diamond giant, Nicky Oppenheimer, with his $7 billion is second in Africa and 199th in the world. Globacom boss, Mike Adenuga is 250th in the world with a net worth of $5.8 billion dollars. In 2014, Dangote was 37th with his net worth of $25 billion. Dangote’s wealth decline is attributed to Nigeria’s economic instability and her naira devaluation.
On the Forbes list, Bill Gates reclaimed his No1 spot after Jeff Bezos of Amazon briefly displaced him on Friday. Mr Gates is worth $89.8 billion and Bezos is $86.7 billion worth.
