Former Indomitable Lions captain Samuel Eto’o Fils is reportedly in Yaounde ahead of Friday and Monday’s double header qualifiers between the Super Eagles and Indomitable Lions.
Local media in Cameroon have reported that the Alatyaspor of Turkey striker returned to Yaounde to seek support for the Lions, as well as solution to the issues currently causing disaffection in FECAFOOT.
Nigeria and Cameroun are in a make or break tie to clinch a ticket to the 2018 AFCON as Cameroon would need to pick at least four points from both legs to stand a chance of qualifying for Russia 2018 World Cup.
Cameroon’s football governing body FECAFOOT, believes that aside from playing a huge role in a peaceful election, striker Eto’O can inspire the Indomitable Lions to excel against their African rivals.
The country’s soccer governing body also believe Eto’O’s huge personality will go a long way to achieve its lofty task against Nigeria and more importantly help restore peace in FECAFOOT.
The Cameroonians will travel to Nigeria on Thursday, 24 hours before facing Super Eagles at The Nest of Champions – Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo.
