As part of the celebrations of Lagos State at 50 years, Continental Basketball League has rolled out a Basketball Challenge tagged the ‘May Madness Tournament’ which took off on May 12 and is ongoing at the Teslim Balogun Arena in Lagos.
The tournament will take place in four cities across Africa namely, Lagos, Yaounde, Libreville and Abidjan. Teams taking part are Eko Kings, Lagos City Stars, and Lagos Warriors from Lagos, Libreville Izobe Dragons from Gabon, Abidjan Raiders from Abidjan and Yaoundé Giants from Cameroon.
Teams will go head-to-head against each other in one of the most anticipated basketball challenges ever in the history of Africa, thereafter the teams will embark on a road trip to the capital of Cameroon, Yaoundé, tagged Yaoundé challenge from May 22-24.
Organisers of the Continental Basketball League (CBL), Ugo Udueze, said that he was interested more in promoting the culture of the state through basketball.
On May 27 and 28 celebrities will play against Basketball veterans, and youth players in the All Star weekend tournament.
The May Madness Tournament is not just about basketball, it’s also about entertainment as the best African entertainers will perform during half-time shows.
The tournament is expected to end June 4, 2017
