Owners of shanties, makeshift stalls, and other illegal structures at Obalende, Lagos, woke to the demolition of their structures on Saturday, 29th of July, 2017.
The demolition, which was supervised by the Lagos State Government, was carried out after a six-month notice and an additional Abatement Notice of 48 hours was served to the shanty dwellers.
According to the Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force Superintendent of Police, Olayinka Egbeyemi, the structures were demolished because they were illegally constructed and built on canals and drainages.
