Talk about kicking off the new year in a grand way! It’s been well overdue but we’re sure glad Viola Davis is getting the recognition she sure deserves.
On Thursday, January 5th, acclaimed actress Viola Davis proudly became the first person to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in 2017, honoured by the iconic Meryl Streep.
The How To Get Away With Murder actress overwhelmed with emotion while receiving the award exclaimed thus:
“I cannot believe my life right now, that Meryl Streep spoke at my Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremony, with my handsome husband, and a beautiful daughter, and my family, and my representatives…it’s like my life flashing before my eyes, and all I can say is God has blessed my life in abundance.”
A look at the award-winning actress’ journey so far? Well no doubt about it, Viola Davis has won many many hearts earning raves reviews with show stopping performances in films such as ‘Doubt’, ‘The Help,’ and recently the critically acclaimed ‘Fences’ where she starred alongside the dashing Denzel Washington – her performance as Rose Maxson was of course, highly applauded.
In 2015, the renowned actress made history by becoming the first African-American woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role on ‘How to Get Away With Murder.’
So far so good, Viola Davis boasts of an array of awards; Tony Award, Emmy Award, Critic Award, Screen Actors Guild and Critics’ Choice Awards and she is also a two-time Academy Award nominee, now how about that?
