Nasarawa State Governor Tanko Al-Makura has called on the people to support his administration beyond 2015 in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

He made the call while inaugurating the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre he donated to Bingham University, Karu, on Thursday.

Al-Makura said the donation was a fulfilment of his promise to assist the institution with the centre in order to improve upon the standard of education in the state and the country at large.

“I built and equipped e-library with ICT facilities across the state in order to enhance learning and teaching.

“My Government has been fighting corruption, poverty, hunger, unemployment and youths and women restiveness, as well as boosting socio-economic activities.

“I am delighted to open this ICT centre with modern facilities donated to the university as part of my administration’s commitment to the development of computer education in the country”, Al-Makura said.

According to him, the role of ICT in the development of any society cannot be over-emphasised, adding that one cannot be successful in life without having the knowledge of computer.

He called on the lecturers and students to use the ICT centre to enrich themselves with modern knowledge in their interest and for the overall development of the country.

He urged the people to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliations.

Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of university’s council, Prof. Gomna Dogara, thanked Al-Makura for the gesture and promised proper use and maintenance of the centre with a capacity for 200 people.
