Today, October 5, 2018, marks the anniversary of the gruesome murder of four students of University of Port Harcourt, River State, popularly called Aluu Four.

The unfortunate incident of October 5, 2012, still remains fresh in the memory of many who witnessed the  ‘Aluu Four killing’.

local vigilantes at Omokri-Aluu in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State arrested the students.

There were: Ogonna Obuzor ,Lyod Toku, Mike Tekena Elkenna and Chidiaka Beringa.

They stripped the students stripped naked and beat them badly. They were also paraded on the major streets of Aluu and burnt alive.

However, there was a respite for the families of the slain students in July 2017.

The court charged  seven suspects  for murder and treasonable felony.

Only four of the assailants were acquitted, because of insufficient evidence linking them to the murder.

Inspite of the court ruling on the suspects, this has not relieved the respective families of their irreparable loss.
