Briton’s World Heavyweight Championship Anthony Joshua knocked out Alexander Povetkin to retain his WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles at Wembley Stadium.

In a fight that was very close to call until the 7th round when AJ knocked-out the Russian. The Briton showed he has learnt a lot from his last few fights.

Povetkin started like a house on fire and drew first blood when caught Joshua off balance with a punch that broke his nose.

Joshua recovered in round too but there was not much to separate both men as the dished out heavy punches.

Povetkin continued to cause the world champ problems and he landed heavy left and right punches in the third round to edge the round.

In the fourth round, Joshua began to show signs of why he was favourite going into the fight as he landed swinging left hook to cut Povetkin over the left eye.

Povetkin tried to shake of the previous round and threw some nice punches but Joshua though did not look overly worried.

Round six was more of an even round than any other round in the fight with both men trading heavy punches to score points.

But in Round seven, Povetkin begin to show signs he was running dry on energy and Joshua seizes the moment! A huge left hook abd right hook and the Russian collapsed to the canvas.

The Russian tried to continue but AJ was just too powerful with the Referee Steve Gray calling off the fight in the of a Joshua onslaught on Povetkin.

This was the first time Alexander Povetkin was stopped in his career. His only loss before today was against fellow Russian, Wladimir Klitschko by decision.

Joshua retains his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles and will now look forward to April 13 when his next fight would hold.
