President Muhammadu Buhari has described the attack on St. Phillip Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State by a gunman as “an appalling crime against humanity and an unspeakable sacrilege.”

According to Vanguard, the president made this known in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, where he added that “there was no justification whatsoever to target Church worshipers and kill them in cold blood.”

He further condemned the attack, which left eight people dead and 18 injured, as an atrocity that “plumbs the depth of depravity and extreme cruelty of the kind that words cannot adequately express.”

The president reiterated his commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians and expressed his sincere sympathy with the families of the victims, the church leadership and the government of Anambra State.
