Marco Asensio Doesn’t Want To Finish His Career Wearing Number 20 Shirt

Marco Asensio has revealed he doesn’t want to end his career wearing the number 20 jersey.

The Spaniard is seen as one of the future of both Real Madrid and Spain and he has gotten to a stage where a lot of people expect him to deliver consistently.

“I wouldn’t want to finish my career with the number 20 shirt, I say everything with that. If I wanted to change it? Yes, we will see what happens,” he said speaking to Marca.

“With Cristiano or without him I have the same aim of having a first team place and being important. So far so good, I have started the season well and I am working well.”

Asensio started his career at Mallorca before joining Real Madrid where he was sent to Espanyol on loan to develop.

“In spite of having a lot of good offers we stood firm. We wanted to stay at Mallorca and complete this stage of my development,” he explained.

“We thought I could develop as well at Mallorca as at another club and that was the case. The target was to get to the first team which is what happened.

“It is not the same the pressure at Madrid and Mallorca where they would say ‘run lad, you are playing with the money for my kids.”

On Espanyol he added: “It was a good year, I played and improved a lot, again with another type of pressure because we played without much fire in attack.”
