The leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Borno State have thrown their support behind the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the Northeast.

They met amid a request by President Goodluck Jonathan’s request to the Senate for the extension of the state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States.

“We met again after our successful outing on Monday. We discussed many issues but specifically we restated our support for the President both on his reelection and the ongoing anti- terrorist operations.

“We rededicate ourselves to wresting power from the APC in Borno and commend the security agencies for their enormous sacrifices in the anti – terror war,” said Mohammed Wakil, on behalf of the elders and leaders, after a stakeholder meeting in Maiduguri late Tuesday.

They re-adopted their previous endorsement of President Jonathan and promised massive mobilisation for the President in the 2015 general election.

“We are convinced that the President is doing all humanly possible to bring the insurgency to an end. Moreover, we commend the president over his pledge to recapture all occupied territories and rebuild the North East after the war,” Wakil said.

He explained that the stakeholders were convinced that only the continuity of a PDP-led Federal Government could accelerate the defeat of the insurgency in the North East.
