After the expulsion of the General Secretary (GS) of the pro-democracy group, Campaign for Democracy (CD), Goodluck Obi, on the grounds of dishonorable practices, the organisation at a special convention recently elected a new secretary.
The organisation following the recommendation of a 5-man disciplinary panel,unanimously elected Comrade Ifeanyi Odili, as the new general secretary and advised members of the public to desist from dealing with the expelled GS, in any capacity as a member of the Campaign for Democracy.

Furthermore, the CD leadership also condemned the recent demand for fresh bailout funds by the Nigerian Governors Forum, from the Federal Government, adding that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), must investigate the utilization of the previous bailout funds, realeased in the past.
It should also be recalled, that President Muhammadu Buhari has rescued states from bankruptcy twice, in the form of releasing funds to facilitate salary payments for Government workers and other important needs to ensure the smooth running of the states. In spite of this, some states are recorded to be owing salaries.
While the Campaign for Democracy group endorsed the ungoing anti-corruption campaign of the Federal Government, it also demanded an immediate release of the Vice President Osinbajo led panel of investigation, on the former SGF Babachir Lawal and NIA DG, Ayo Oke.
