America’s famed comedian has resigned  from the Board of Trustees of his beloved Temple University, in the latest development on series of sexual allegations made against him publicly by more than ten women.

In his brief release to the Temple University Board of Trustees, the Tv legend says, the decision is “in the best interest of the University and students.”

When matters like this begin, they just don’t go away, ‘discredited’ or not; the ‘silence’ doesn’t make them go away either.

Perhaps it would have been easier, (perhaps I said) if it had just been a case of infidelity but the rape allegations against the 77-year-old American comedian Bill Cosby, makes it unforgivable…the other famous ‘Bill’ got off easy – no accusations of sexual assault.

…And so the man must go down, legend or not, and many feel that way (sigh!).

Well if you think of the women that have been involved, then you can’t help that feeling – many women fall victim of rape every day, involving colleagues, bosses, brothers, and it gets really ugly…husbands and fathers too. How sickening that can be…but it happens!

The problem here is that this ‘Bill’ is not only a legend but a role model – ‘The Role Model’ if you like, for African-American families!

He has been very critical of the African-American communities, given the burden of crime and juvenile delinquency, who he faults majorly on bad parenting, as many fail to inculcate in their children, ‘proper standards of moral behavior’.

So it will be unforgivable that this ‘saint’ is not so ‘saintly’ after all.

The question many are asking is why now – at this stage of his life, when he is being celebrated the most…? That’s scary isn’t it?

But can this deluge of allegations be completely untrue…?

If so, who wants to see ‘Bill’ go down now and why?

Sometime back, when a ‘tired 83-year-old Bill ranting’ went viral, the host of ‘The Cosby Show’ – which was recently rested by the NBC, following the rape allegations – issued a statement on his website billcosby.com with the caption: “ If you got the BOGUS email, it’s time to hit DELETE!”

It stated: “There’s an email floating around – entitled “I’m 76 and tired” – purportedly sent by me. I did not write the email, I did not send the email, I’m not 76, and I don’t subscribe to the ugly views expressed in the email. We are coming up to an important anniversary on Sunday, which is a day when we should all come together. Whoever wrote this email is not thinking about our country, or what is important. If you get the email, it’s time to hit DELETE.”

I read that article and wondered: ‘you mean someone just to cooked this up to bring the legend into disrepute?’ Meaning anything can happen, with the media in this age of the internet, and now social media.

Unfortunately, it is not only the man at the center of the scandal that goes down; his family, friends, fans and everything else that has to do with him, get affected.

Imagine the students from Temple University who have shared the story proudly of this legend being alumni of their prestigious university for more than four decades.

It just doesn’t go away once it starts does it?

A real sad story!
