The Senate has again dropped the name of the embattled former Governor of Rivers State, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, from the list of those due to be screened for ministerial position today.

According to the Order Paper of the Senate, only three candidates will be screened today, consequently lending further credence to the exclusion rumour that permeated the country’s political atmosphere over the weekend.

The Senate had last week announced Amaechi’s name as amongst those to be screened, but later dropped him after it emerged that the APC chieftain had not been able to meet up with Senate requirements for screening.

No immediate reason has been given for dropping Amaechi’s name for the third time in three screening sessions, but political analysts say it might not be unconnected with his ongoing standoff with senators from his home Rivers State coupled with his indictment by a panel of inquiry in the state.

Amongst those expected to be screened during today’s plenary are, Barrister Shittu Adebayo, Claudius Omoleye Daramola and Khadija Abba Ibrahim.
