Afrocentric Rhythms(AR) Concert is a live music concert series, created to review and revive African rhythms. The AR Concert as a conduit, brings original rhythms together,in a gathering for the old and young generations. It is also an avenue to the get acquainted and enjoy local and global true African rhythms.

With this unique concept, the AR Concert is poised to celebrate our African tunes and the composers from the oldies till date.

The maiden edition of the Afrocentric Rhythms Concert may have come and gone but memories of the unique live musical performances held at Freedom Park (Food Court) on August 20, 2017, still lingers.

It was indeed a fun filled affair for all who attended, as they enjoyed  authentic melody, in the peaceful atmosphere under the night sky.

The AR Concert emerges as the rising platform to celebrate and showcase deserving artists making efforts to fully restore and sustain genuine African rhythms firmly rooted in musical origins like Highlife, Afro Juju, Afro Pop, Apala, Fuji, Afrobeat,Africalypso, Afrophunk et cetera. These musicians rehearse and then perform live on stage with the Abinini Groovy Band.

The aforementioned band, is a 12 piece multi talented musical band, which features professional instrumentalist and singers who perform as a group.

The Afrocentric Rhythms Concert is a place for original and alternative music and it is a concert series where people who love African rhythms can attend and listen to live music, while enjoying the ambiance.

According to the organiser Mr. Abiodun Afolaranmi, “I decided to make FREEDOM PARK, LAGOS ISLAND mother of ARConcert venue with its natural atmosphere and maximum security. ARConcert is a platform where talented musicians need to showcase their original and alternative musical works.

“I only give platform to artists who are comfortable performing with a live band and putting aside all ego to work together, to create a cohesive whole; to bring out the best in one another and celebrate African rhythms.”

Good news as the Afrocentric Rhythm concert Season two is in the pipes, it will feature: Kola Ogunkoya, K Peace, Maka, Kwitee, Hess King, David Morris, Hathanda and Segun Asiko.

The Host will be Radio Queen herself, Tushbee.
