In a fresh attack late Tuesday(24 of October 2017) night, in Jol, a village in Riyom local Government Area of Plateau State,Fulani herdsmen killed two people and injured several others, as tensions are at an all time high among residents. There are reports that the chairman of the transition committee of the local government, Emmanuel Jugul, confirmed the attack when he said, “Four People were yesterday (Tuesday) night attacked in Jol, two died, the other two persons were badly injured.”
According to him, the attack followed a day after the corpse of a herdman, who was declared missing earlier, was found in the area. “It is unfortunate that we are recording incidents of attacks again in Riyom Local Government.
“Two days ago, the corpse of a Fulani boy that had been missing since last week was found by a search party we organised”.
He goes further to say that when the herdsman was declared missing, the case was reported to the Special Taskforce on Jos crisis.
It will be recalled that about 44 people were reported killed in communal clashes in two local government areas of the state, within the last month.
