Fulani Herdsmen Set Chief Olu Falae’s Farm Ablaze

Elder Statesman and AFENIFERE Chieftain Olu Falae

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have burned down some plantations belonging to elder statesman, Chief Olu Falae, in Ondo State.

According to reports, the marauders, on Sunday evening, set the large expanse of farmland ablaze, for reasons best known to them.

Confirming the incident to newsmen through a text message, Chieftain of the Pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, Chief Falae, lamented the unfortunate circumstance while alleging that such is their usual practice.

“They burnt the farm so that in the next few days, fresh grass will spring up which their cattle will later feed on. This is what the Fulani herdsmen do every year. The oil palm plantation was affected as well as some parts of the yam and cassava plantations.

“As I speak, the farm is burning.”

In his reaction, Femi Fani Kayode, media aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, condemend the act in its entirety and called on President Muhammadu Buhari to take a decisive action on the atrocities being committed by the herdsmen.

“Fulani terrorists have just set Chief Olu Falae’s entire farm in Ondo state on fire. The place is ablaze right now.Baba Falae is one of the most respected and reverred leaders of Afenifere and the Yoruba nation. Only two years ago the same Fulani terrorists kidnapped him and almost killed him. I ask Buhari and Miyetti Allah, does he deserve this? Is this fair? How many more people have to die and how many more farms have to be destroyed before you will call these barbarians to order and bring them to book?”- FFK.
