The funeral ceremony of one of Nigeria’s notable hoteliers, Aare Francis Odutola Odunuga was held at the St. John’s Anglican Church, Iju Ishaga, Agege on the 9th of December 2017.
The late Aare Francis Odutola Odunuga was born in Ijebu Ilese on the 2nd of February 1949. He was the 3rd child of his mother. His late parents were Pa Olorunfemi Odunuga and Madam Abigael Odunuga (nee Adeshina) , both hailed from Ilese and Ijebu Ode respectively.
Aare’s education began when he was enrolled at United Primary School in Ilese where he did his Modern school certificate.
Aare started his working experience as a soldier in the Nigeria military at Ilese barrack where he worked and left in 1976. Not contented with just serving in the military, he was employed into the Nigerian Customs Service in 1981 where he worked actively and retired in 2009.
Before his retirement, he made valid plans for life after retirement and it gave birth to Grandjoy Hotels where he was the Chief Executive Officer until his death. He was the President of Lagos Hoteliers Association and Vice President of Hoteliers Association, South West of Nigeria.
Aare Odunuga he left behind his three wives, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a good christian and enjoyed fellowship and worship until the very end.
The funeral service was conducted by Venerable Taiwo Arowolo. The cleric urged the family members to embrace God who he pointed out could uproot any barrier to peace in the family.
The cleric, in his sermon encouraged the audience to emulate Late Aare Francis Odunuga , emphasised the need for people to use their wealth to serve God, help the poor and the needy, noting that any material wealth acquired by any human being would be of no use if such wealth was not used to serve God and assist humanity.
