The Chief Press Secretary to Ondo State Governor, Segun Ajiboye has said that Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has done nothing contrary to the law in the utilization and distribution of the Paris Club money in the State, saying that the misunderstanding between the government and the Labour unions over workers arears will be settled.

He made this statement in reaction to the stand of the organized Labour unions in the state over 80% payment of workers arrears in the state from Paris Club money. Following Friday, last week, some workers in the state are said to be receiving 80% payment of their September, 2016 arears, however the Labour leaders in the state unanimously said the payment is a gift rather than a salary.

The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC and the Trade Union Congress TUC rejected the salary paid by the government, insisting that the government should pay the salaries in full and not in percentages.

In a statement issued on Sunday 20th August, 2017 in Akure, the Ondo State capital after the meeting of the leaders of the unions led by the NLC chairman, Mrs. Bosede Daramola and her TUC counterpart, Mr. Soladoye Ekundayo. They said thus: “If Governor Akeredolu’s administration can spend money left in the account by his predecessor, he should also pay in full the debt and salaries owed by Mimiko’s government, whenever funds are available instead of using his aides to attack labour unions .

“We will do everything to reject introduction of percentage salary in Ondo state, no matter the level of government’s propaganda to blackmail us.”
