There have been reports that Senator Ita Giwa and her erstwhile god son, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River are in conflict, over their party differences.
Senator Florence Ita-giwa, earlier this year defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
A source close to the Governor and the former senator confirmed to Happenings.com.ng that, Senator Ita-giwa and Governor Ben Ayade have once more renewed their cordial relationship and have buried the hatchet.
According to the source, Governor Ayade despite the matter of party differences, still holds Senator Ita Giwa, also known as Mama Bakassi in high esteem.
The duo have been seen recently attending meetings by the planning committee for the highly anticipated Calabar carnival, which holds every December.
Both political figures as members of the Calabar carnival planning committee, are often seen together laughing, exchanging ideas and pleasantries.
As they are both dedicated to ensuring a successful carnival this year and moving the state forward.
In the words of our close source, “I will tell you authoritatively that; they are both fine with their relationship they have put their differences behind them and moved foward. There is no fracas between them.”
There have been speculations that Governor Ayade is allegedly making plans to defect to the ruling APC. As top party officials are rumoured to be in close door meetings with the Governor.
Allegedly it is their aim to ensure the Governor switches allegiance to the ruling party and further strengthen their political hold in Cross River, come the 2019 General elections.
