Governor Okowa Shines In Record Breaking Power Move


The executive Governor of the Oil spinning Delta state Dr. Arthur Ifeayin Okowa, is allegedly rated as one of the least performing Governors in the country.

Many of have critics has written him off, claiming; there has been no tangible development after 2 years of his tenure as Governor of the oil rich state.

However, what many are not aware of, is the fact that the Governor has wooed several investors to the state to strengthen its economy and create more job opportunities.

The latest of his big moves was revealed on Thursday, September 28, 2017 when an indigenous business concern, Proton Energy, expressed its determination to boost Nigeria’s power generation base with a 150MW plant located in Delta State.

As part of his quest to boost the economy, making it a more business friendly environment for investors, Ifeanyi Okowa, performed the ground breaking ceremony of the $250million gas-fired power generation plant in Ogoprode-Sapele in Sapele Local Government Area of the state.

Happenings.com.n gathered that; the plant would begin operation in 2018 when most of the infrastructural, technical and electrical installations would have been completed.

This feat is expected to create at least 1000 jobs for people within the locality, starting from the construction stages.

The ground-breaking ceremony,  was attended by top dignitaries and state government functionaries including the state Commissioner for Energy, Mr. Newworld Safugha and his information ministry counterpart, Mr. Patrick Ukah, the representative of the Economic Director of USAID (Initiator of Power Africa programme), Ms Bibi Oufore, Sapele Council chairman, Chief Ejaife Odebala and top executives of technical partners of Proton Energy.
