How and Where to Get Your PVC in Lagos

As of today, Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018, it is 227 Days till the 2019 general elections slated for the 16th of February 2019, according to the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC). Nigerians of voting age are expected to get their permanent voter’s card (PVC), to participate in the electoral process as Nigerian citizens.

The registration for PVC will be suspended in December 2018, 60 days before the commencement of the election. Thus, it is important that as a Nigerian, you get your PVC before then.

The simple steps to take in ensuring you get your PVC are:

1. As a Nigerian above 18, it is your right to register and get a PVC, thus with a valid means of identification, like an International passport or Driver’s licence, to prove identity, age and nationality, go to the nearest INEC LGA Office. The exercise runs between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

2. After you have been registered, INEC will give you a Temporary Voter’s Card (TVC), until the permanent one is ready.

3. When your PVC is ready, you will be sent a text message informing you. The TVC will be used to claim your Permanent Voter’s Card at the INEC LGA office, where registration was made.

An individual can verify his or her PVC status, by checking the “Voter Register Verification Platform” on the INEC website.
