Ifako Ijaye Local Government Wins 2018 Spelling Bee Competition

The annual Spelling Bee Competition was held at the Area Office, NRC Building, Iju in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government on Wednesday, June 6. The chairperson, Pastor (Mrs) Modupe Oke who hosted the event said one of the major goals of the administration is to raise the educational standard of schools in Ifako-Ijaiye.
The wife of the Executive Chairman, Apostle (Dr.) Oloruntoba Oke said this would be achieved by continually supporting the entire schools to achieve improvements through the provision of facilities.
She said actions have been taken by providing a standard Public Library in Iju, to promote the academic excellence of school children, reading culture and research habits of the general public. Worthy of mention is also the ICT Centre which recently graduated a batch of trainees, is available for students and general public use.
Pastor Mrs Modupe Oke further commended the initiative of Senator (Mrs) Oluremi Tinubu which has over the years afforded school children the opportunities to excel academically through the rigorous preparations by teachers and enthusiasm of pupils and students.
The supervisor for education, Hon. Babajide Atala who was highly impressed by the performances of the children appreciated the efforts of teachers who worked hard to groom them to excel. He praised the children for their unique performances and encouraged them to put in their best so as to represent Ifako-Ijaiye well at the state level and emerge winners.
In the primary school category, 16 schools participated and the following emerged winners: 1st position-Samuel Makinde of Iju Station Primary Scool 1, 2nd position-Michelle Ukwandu Chima of African Church Primary School and 3rd-Oluwadamilare Adeyemi of First African Church Mission Primary School 1 while in the secondary school category, 10 schools participated and the following emerged winners: 1st position- Ayansola Abeeb of Ifako-Ijaiye Senior Comprehensive High School, 2nd position-Yusuf Ramon Bamidele of Sonmori Senior Comprehensive High School and 3rd-Emakwu Precious of Keke Senior High School.
The leader of the Legislative Arm of Ifako-Ijaiye, Hon. Abiodun Akinola, Deputy leader, Hon. Victor Onifade, Hon. Maruf Ojugbele, Hon. Sharafa Kareem, Hon. Olusesi Smith, Hon. Babatunde Adekanbi, Hon. Femi Abiola Afikuyomi(JP), Hon. (Mrs) Toyin Akerele, Hon. Olalekan Kujembola, the Head Of Admin, Mr Abdulraheem Adewunmi Ogunbambi, Management, staff, teachers and some media personnel graced the occasion.
