INEC Approves 13 Political Parties’ Merger

By: Tunde Ogunmola

As the 2019 general election approaches, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has approved the merger of 13 registered political parties to give the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), and the major opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a run for their money.

The political parties according to INEC sources, have agreed to collapse into one mega party known as Freedom and Justice Party (FJP).

The interim National Chairman of the proposed party is Dr. Onwunbuya Breakforth.

The name and logo of the new party have been approved by INEC.

It would be recalled that ACN, CPC, ANPP, New PDP and part of APGA merged to become APC and seized power in 2015.
