Again! kidnappers invade Lagos school, abduct principals, 6 students


Gunmen suspected to be militants, in the early hours of Thursday, invaded Lagos State Model College, Igbo Nla, Epe, Lagos, abducting the principals and some students.

The gunmen reportedly stormed the school premises when the students were at the morning assembly,
and abducted the principal of the junior secondary school, Mr. Oyesola and Mr. Akirinmade who is the Principal of the senior secondary school, and some of the students.

This is the second time, kidnappers will be invading the college. In October 2016, gunmen kidnapped four students, their Vice Principal and teacher. The gunmen stormed the school at about 7.45am in three speed boats, while the students were observing their morning assembly. The armed men marched them through the bush path and escaped in their boats through Ogbere River.

Presenting Thursday’s incident to the House of Representatives, the member representing Epe Constituency, Wale Raji, appealed to the House to call on the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State to treat the case with utmost urgency.

The House suspended other proceedings to attend to the matter and asked the police to mobilise and rescue the principals and students.
