The All Progressives Congress (APC) and family of Hon. Idowu Olafimihan, popularly known as Valid ID in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State have been thrown into mourning, at the death of the Chairmanship aspirant of the Local Government, at the just concluded Local Government elections in Lagos state.
He contested under the platform of the APC in Mushin LG, although he did not win the party ticket, he was a strong contender for the seat, and is said to have pursued his ambition with sheer determination and vigour, giving it his all. Sources say he died in the early hours of Wednesday 16th August, 2017, at his residence.
According to them, he had been hale and hearty throughout the night before he retired to his room, after watching the English Premiership match between Watford and Liverpool with his friends. He reportedly died of heart failure.
His shock and sudden death, according to reliable sources, may not be unconnected with his failed chairmanship ambition as he had reportedly complained to a friend of his, that he was sick and tired of the political brinkmanship, during and after the elections. He had also indicated interest in his desire to return to Dublin Ireland next week.
None could have predicted that the cold hands of death was upon him. However a source in the know, revealed that the late Olafimihan may be on the verge of losing his three homes in Dublin Ireland, due to unpaid mortgages. Before coming back to Nigeria to run for the Chairmanship seat, he had acquired three homes in Dublin, through mortgages and was yet to finish the payments. According to our source, as it stands, he may forfeit these houses, if his family can not afford paying these outstanding mortgages.
Until his death, Late Olafimihan was a devout Muslim and he is survived by his wife and children. And has been buried according to Islamic rites. May his soul rest in peace.
