Lagos State INEC Gets New Resident Commissioner

The new Resident Electoral Commissioner appointed for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State, Mr Sam Olumekun, has assumed duty.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria NAN, Olumekun assumed duty on Wednesday at the state headquarters of the commission in Yaba, Lagos.

His appointment follows the retirement from service by the immediate past Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, Mr Akin Orebiyi.

The Head of Public Affairs Department at the commission Mr Femi Akinbiyi, confirmed to NAN that the new commissioner has reported for duty.

Akinbiyi revealed that, while addressing staff members, the new REC, sought their cooperation and that of stakeholders for the success of the electoral body’s operations.

NAN also reports that Olumekun is the immediate past INEC commissioner in Edo.
