The remains of one of Lagos State illustrious sons and Special Adviser to the Lagos State Government on Commerce and Industry Hon. Deji Tinubu, has been laid to rest amidst tears and groans.
The Funeral Service, which was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God City of David Parish, Victoria Island Lagos, was attended by the Wife of the Vice President of Nigeria Mrs Dolapo Oshibajo, Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and his wife Mrs Abolanle Ambode, Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun and his wife Mrs Olufunsho Amosun and a host of other dignitaries.
In his sermon, the Presiding Minister Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, recalled fond memories of his interactions with the deceased. He revealed that the late Hon. Deji Tinubu was a very humble and kind man to a fault, to the point that despite the positions he held in the society, he was an active member of the Church cleaning department.
He also at some point requested a standing and clapping ovation in honour of the dearly departed.
Picking his Bible text from the book of Ecclesiastics 3-2 and Proverbs 10-7, Pastor Iluyomade harped on life after death and the need for everyone to become Born-Again, so that they can be assured of eternal life.
The Wife of the Vice President Mrs Dolapo Oshibajo, led the prayers for the deceased family, she prayed that God comforts them and heal their broken hearts and bless them beyond compare.
Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, commiserated with the Deji Tinubu’s family and prayed for the repose of his soul. He also extended his sympathy to Governor Ambode and the Lagos State Government.
Governor Amosun urged the family to be thankful for the quality of life Hon. Tinubu lived and the fact that he touched many lives. The Governor, despite being a Muslim then requested that two songs “Oh! When the saints go marching in and Ijoba Orun” be rendered in honour of the dearly departed.
Following the Church Service, was the interment which was done at the prestigious Private Cemetry Vaults and Gardens and officiated by Pastor Idowu Iluyomade and Pastor Ituah Ighodalo.
The families of the deceased could not hold back as tears flowed freely and the sounds of groaning and mourning were very audible.
The Ministers counseled the deceased wife Mrs Yemisi Tinubu and the children, to take solace in the fact that her husband lived a great and impactful life.
The necessary rites were performed and the deceased was lowered to the grave.
The late Hon. Deji Tinubu was born on July 31-1964 and died January 25-2018, aged 64.
Until his death, he was the newly appointment Special Adviser to the Lagos State Government on Commerce and Industry. He was also the immediate past Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission.
He is survived by Wife, Children and siblings.
