Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has called off its industrial action proposed to commence today.

NLC suspended the strike action last night after negotiations were agreed upon between NLC and the federal government.

The National Chairman of NLC, Ayuba Wabba while addressing the newsmen said the strike has been suspended

He said a new resolution leading to the new minimum wage has been concluded.

The new national minimum wage is expected to be announced to Nigerians later today after the committee would have briefed President Muhammadu Buhari.

Leading to the proposed NLC strike action, negotiations between the federal government and NLC had met a brick wall weeks back.

Labour had settled for N30,000, Federal government proposed N24, 000, while the state governors only agreed to pay N22,500.

It was on this premise that NLC was adamant about going ahead with the strike action.

A marathon meeting between NLC and the committee led by Ama Pepple, former Head of Service, aided the call off.

Ama Pepple in her submission said she was satisfied with the new resolution.

She noted that the new national minimum wage would be presented today after a meeting with the president before passing it to the National Assembly for scrutiny.
