When your urine is yellowish, most people believe it’s a sign of malaria, but truly it is a sign that you are dehydrated.

Urination is a normal bodily function and an everyday call of nature. If you don’t urinate, you should be worried.

Most people’s urine are yellow or straw in colour while some have it as clear as drinking water.

Causes of yellow coloured urine?

Scientifically, urine is composed of a pigment known as urochrome or urobilin which appears to be yellow, straw or amber.

The color appearance in your urine depends on the concentration of this pigment.

Our body functions best when it is properly hydrated when one takes enough or plenty of water.

The pigment is diluted and the urine excreted appears clear.

It should also be noted that it is not only this pigment alters the color of urine but also the chemical composition of the food one eats.

Certain changes in the colour of urine may also mark underlying medical conditions.

The normal colour of urine depends on the amount of water one takes.

Note that everybody has their normal colour of urine and this is in the yellow spectrum.

Those who take enough water are hydrated and have pale yellow urine, while others who take less water have dehydrated bodies hence deep yellow or amber urine colours.

Please stay hydrated at all times.
