Easy Steps To Make Chinchin

Chin chin is one of the most popular snack in Nigeria. It is made from flour, milk, and sugar. Chinchin is very delicious and easy to make

Ingredients

3 cups of flour

1 spoon of ground nutmeg

1 spoon of milk flavoring

100g margarine

1 cup of powdered milk

1 cup of water

Mixing method

Step 1

Mix the milk, (liquid milk is better) however if you are using powdered milk, mix the milk with sugar in a bowl and leave to soak.

If you want soft chinchin add 150ml of water and for crunchy chinchin mix, add 75ml of water and leave to soak.

Step 2

Mix the ground nutmeg and flour in a separate bowl, then crush the margarine into the flour continue the mixture till it blends.

Add sugar and milk to the margarine and flour mixture, use your hand to mix well until it becomes smooth

Step 3

Place the dough on a flat surface and knead properly with a rolling pin until all the ingredients are blended. When the dough is flat, cut into any size you like

Step 4

Pour enough oil into frying pan or a deep pot. Allow it to heat for about 3-4 minutes, then go ahead with the frying of the chin chin in batches.

Step 5

After each batch, allow the oil to heat again for up to 40 seconds before adding the next batches. Don’t forget to stir the chin chin continuously.

Step 6

Transfer the chin chin into a sieve after frying, so the oil can drain before transferring into a wide plate where it will cool for up to three hours, then store in an airtight container so it won’t get soft.
