After watching the Nation’s Cup qualifier between Nigeria and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Saturday, Joseph Oloruntoju, an avid Nigerian football fan and a retired Nigerian soldier collapsed and died.
Punch reports that Oloruntoju went to the Owena Army Barracks, Akure, to watch this particular match but collapsed when Super Eagles lost to South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
Accordng to the Pubic Relations Officer of the 32 Aritillery Brigade of the Nigeria Army, Akure, Captain Ojo Adelegan, the retired soldier collapsed after the South Africa scored its second goal.
“He is a retired sergeant. He has a shop at our mammy market,” he revealed. “It was discovered that his blood pressure was overshot. It was while our doctors were saving his life that he gave up the ghost.”
