Visiting Teams Should Fear Anfield – Joel Matip

Joel Matip celebrates his goal

Liverpool defender Joel Matip believes Liverpool’s form at Anfield is turning it to a scary place for visiting teams.

The Cameroonian started his first game for the club since March, scoring in their 3-0 win against Southampton.

“I think it should always be a fear to come to Anfield as an opposing team,” Matip told BT Sport.

“But we are working hard to make it as uncomfortable as possible for the opponent and we are on a good way. I think nobody enjoys to play here.”

Matip has been out of the Liverpool team through injury says he’s fit and ready to play games.

“After this long time, after this injury, it feels great to start again and to play. It was a nice feeling to be on the field 90 minutes,” he continued.

“Sure, it was quite a long time with the injury but now I’m fit and in a good way. I still need some time but (I’m) looking forward to the next game.

“I was not too lucky with scoring goals during my time at Liverpool but I hope that maybe this season I can score a few more goals.

“It always helps the team and helps me get self-confidence for the game.”
