#NECLive5: Photos from the Nigeria Entertainment Conference 2017

A host of Nigerian celebrities and entertainment experts and stakeholders in the sector graced this year’s edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NEC Live 5), a forum for the Nigerian entertainment industry, which continually discusses development of the sector,  which took place Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Landmark Centre, Oniru, Lagos.

With the theme, “It’s time for Africa,” this year’s NECLive focused on the readiness of the continent to embrace global opportunities and engage with its very best. In his opening address, the chairman/convener, Ayeni Adekunle, noted that last year, Nigeria’s Nollywood movies surpassed Hollywood and Bollywood in cinema earnings.

Present and speaking at the conference included Ali Baba, Tiwa Savage, Ade Bantu, Chidinma, Tonto Dikeh, Iyanya and Daddy Showkey to Adewale Ayuba, Toyin Abraham, Woli Arole, ID Cabasa, Adesua Etomi, Frank Donga, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal KWAM1, and many more prominent personalities.

From paper presentations to panel sessions, practitioners agreed that virtually all segments of the industry have grown into multi-billion dollar businesses, and the role of the industry cannot be ignored in terms of employment generation and poverty alleviation. The need for government to create an enabling environment with functional structures was reiterated.
