The 12th Headies, one of Nigeria’s prestigious music awards was held on the 5th May 2018, in Lagos Nigeria. While majority of Nigerian stars and celebrities were in attendance, as they vied to dominate the red carpet, there were those who were absent.

Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as ‘Baddo’, was noticeably absent at the Headies awards, even worse he recieved no  award. The singer who has undoubtedly achieved street credibility with his music, was somewhat snubbed, as his hit songs were given no recognition.

The snub was made even more obvious because Olamide has tracks that are currently club bangers and spreading like wild fire. Amazingly ‘Science Student’ and ‘Wo’ were all but negated.Recall that a reason for this ‘beef’ can be traced to the altercation between Olamide and Don Jazzy at the Headies in 2016.

The ‘Next Rated’ category in the Headies is often times the most controversial of categories and the winner would get a brand new car. In 2016 Reekado Banks of Mavin Records and Lil Kesh of YBNL were in the same ‘Next Rated’ category, however Reekado Banks won the award. In response Olamide criticized the organizers of the Headies for giving the award to Reekado Banks and not Lil Kesh; Don Jazzy mocked Olamide by saying “I don’t like awards, I only came out here to support my children, Egbon Olamide if it is the car you want come and take it.”

This did not sit well with Olamide and on social media he cursed Don Jazzy out and by extension the organizers of the Headies, HipTV when he insinuated that the award as rigged in favour of Reekado Banks.

Leaving many speculating that this may be a reason for Olamide’s absence at the Headies and the snub of his hit songs ‘Wo’ and ‘Science Student’.
