Arrangements are in top gear with his Imperial Majesty Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), the Ooni of Ife, to formally unveil and install a foremost Yoruba Leader as the new ‘Asiwaju Omo Oodua’, a title hitherto held by the Late Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo during the Grand finale of the World Arts, Culture & Tourism (WACT) Congress.
The Nomination and Selection process for the emergence of the new’ Asiwaju Omo Oodua’ will be launched in due course.
Prominent amongst the eminent personalities for nomination considerations are Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Governor of Lagos State and Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Foremost Leaders from the other Geo-Political zones will also be recommended for Chieftaincy honours. The Chairman and grand patron of Artkingdom International Foundation, Sir Chief Alex Akinyele (former Minister of Information) made this known.
Elaborating further on the Event, the President of the Foundation, Prince Abayomi Otukoya disclosed that the event is the Initiative of Artkingdom International Foundation; MaakBeat Transnational Limited and the Communicator.
It is also in collaboration with The National Council of Arts and Culture; the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA); the Federal Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Information & Culture and The Royal Court of Ife.
Prince Otukoya went further to confirm the official Royal endorsement of his Imperial Majesty Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), the Ooni of Ife.
The WACT Congress Project Executive Director Engr. Adesegun Osibanjo, outlined the Objectives of the Event to include:
- Attracting attention to the untapped potentials of the Arts, Culture & Tourism sector to make it a major revenue earner for the Nigerian economy.
- To revamp & revive all Arts, Culture & Tourism facilities across the Country.
- Drive investments in these sectors and honour deserving Nigerians who have excelled in various sectors of the Nigerian economy across the Six Geo-Political zones with WACT Awards and special Chieftaincy honours by the Ooni of Ife.
Engr. Osibanjo explained further that the Objectives of the Project are in tandem with the CHANGE Mantra of the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration for sustainable Economic growth and development.
This historical event will be staged in the Ancient City of Ile-Ife in Osun State. Nigerians would be hosted by the Ooni of Ife at a date to be announced after the conclusion of all arrangements towards a successful Project hosting as explained by one of the Project Coordinators Mr. Adeleke Olukoya.
