Paper Round: Juventus bidding for Raheem Sterling

The Italian champions are to cash in on Paul Pogba and replace him with Liverpool and England star Raheem Sterling, plus the rest of the day’s big stories.

Juventus preparing big bid for Sterling: Juventus look likely to sell Paul Pogba this summer and want to take £50 million from that sale to buy Raheem Sterling, according to The Sun.

Pogba’s sale could bring in as much as £75 million, giving the Italian giants plenty of money to spend. Now they are making Sterling a priority.

The Englishman hasn’t signed a new contract with Liverpool and Juventus have joined a long line of teams hoping they can sign the starlet.

Paper Round’s view: With every big club in Europe eyeing Pogba, Juventus know that they will probably have to sell. So it makes sense to get busy making plans for what to do with the money Pogba brings in, and Sterling would be a good way to bring back some quality, youth and a big name to pacify fans.

Juventus have a lot to offer and appear set to rejoin Europe’s elite, so they’re realistically in the picture; but have they really made the jump from just being in the picture to beating out the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain? This will be as a big a test of that as anything.
