President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday pledged to address infrastructure and unemployment challenges in Zamfara if re-elected at the February presidential election.

The president made the promise in Gusau at the PDP presidential campaign in the state.

He observed that Zamfara and his home state of Bayelsa had peculiar problems of poor infrastructure, unemployment, and untapped agricultural endowment.

“I promise to improve all these sectors if I return as president,” he stated.

In his speech, Alhaji Bashir Yuguda, Minister of State for Finance and Coordinator of Jonathan/Namadi Campaign in the state, commended the Federal Government for the number of projects it had executed in the state.

The minister urged the people of the state to re-elect the president so that the state could continue to enjoy the federal government’s welfare scheme.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Zamfara was the 13th state visited by the president’s campaign team since it flagged off the electioneering in Lagos on Jan. 8. (NAN)
