Real Reason Lagos State Participated in World Tourism Conference In Rwanda Exposed!

Lagos State was among the participants at the just concluded 41st annual World Tourism Conference held in Kigali Rwanda on 28th to 31st of August, 2017. The programmes was organized to compare notes on tourism development and best practices from other parts of the world.


The Special Adviser to the Governor on Arts and Culture cum the leader of the delegation to the Conference, Mrs. Adebimpe Akinsola, stated that the resolve of the present leadership in Lagos is to boost the State economy by harnessing all human and natural resource potentials in tourism.


According to her, “we know our strength in tourism practice and development and we were there to learn more and compare notes with countries that are more knowledgeable than us in order to improve the industry.


We intend to boost our internally generated revenue by creating the infrastructure to promote the State tourism industry as a first choice destination in the leisure travel market in Africa”.


She added that the State Government intends to seize the opportunity of the conference to interact with investors in tourism business especially owners and managers of business models and global brands that have succeeded in transforming the tourism industry, especially in some African countries.


She furthers narrated that the State delegates were exposed to new ideas, policy process and effective use of unique tourism product strength to attract a sizeable amount of travel market and boost revenue in the tourism sector.


The 41st world Tourism conference was organized by Africa Travel Association (ATA) under the leadership of  Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), the leading U.S business, trade and investment on the Africa continent.


It was attended by Tourism and Culture Ministers across Africa as well as global corporate brands and organizations in the tourism value chain.
