“Re-branding Ajeromi Youths, a task that must be done”- Hon. Rita
Twenty indigent youths whose destinies would have been mortgaged to servitude have been practically given a new lease of live by Hon. Rita Orji, Federal House of Representative member representing Ajeromi Ifelodun Federal constituency.
The said youngsters just successfully completed a three months training from the Meteorological Training Institute(MTI) Onitsha, as part of empowerment scheme bank rolled by the lawmaker.
Hon. Rita recounted why she chose to empower the youths, stating that Ajeromi Ifelodun in time past was known as a breeding ground for hooligans, never do wells and low lives but noted that she stood out as a shining example and would like to influence others in the federal constituency.
“I have seen that everywhere in Ajeromi prior to now, you have hotels owned by big people here, which serve as haven for girls turned to prostitutes. That and some other misnomer informed my passion and desire for a change.
“These twenty youths are my start up sample of rebranding Ajeromi for real”. She said.
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Bunmi Owodunni could not hide her feelings as she spoke glowingly about the lawmaker, who she described as a God sent individual, whose passion to impact the youths knows no bounds.
According to Bunmi, the training is more like what you can get in any Polytechnic or University. She noted that though she left school an art student but ended up being introduced to electrical engineering and is hopeful she and some of her colleagues will be able to mentor other youths having been equipped through the MTI training.
“I went for electrical engineering for heavy mobile, some others in broad scope Information and Communication Technology, ICT, welding and fabrication. Honorable Rita really made us comfortable all through our stay, she promised to help some of us secure employment. She has lots of programmes for the youths and we are glad about that. I urge every youth in Ajeromi to support her”. She said.
Hon. Rita also made a presentation of new bus to another group of youths in Ajeromi to take them off the streets.
