Remains of Man Who Jumped into the Lagos Lagoon Recovered (Photos)

The remains of the man who went overboard the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge on Friday, 20 of October 2017, has been recovered. The man identified as Oluseye Adekunle comitted suicide by jumping into the Lagos lagoon, according to reports, his body was discovered by a local fisherman in the early hours of Sunday, 22nd of October 2017, at 5:00 am.

The body was recovered from the lagoon by the coordinated efforts of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), Marine Police and the State Environmental Monitoring Unit (SEHMU). The remains have been deposited at the Lagos Mainland Hospital Mortuary.

In a joint press conference of emergency responders at the scene, the General Manager LASEMA, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu; the Managing Director, Mr. Damilola Emmanuel and the DPO Maroko Police Station, declared the search closed at 11:30am, as the remains have been recovered.

The General Mananger, LASEMA said that the police will undertake further investigation on the matter, He also reiterated that the situation in the country, shouldn’t compel one to commit suicide. He also enjoined Lagosians to always endeavour to be their brother’s keeper, by reporting any incidents on time, to avoid a repeat of such ugliness in the state.
