Samuel Eto’o has completed his transfer from Everton to Sampdoria, signing a lengthy three-and-a-half year contract.
The 33-year-old passed a medical at the weekend, and publicly declared himself “ready for a new challenge.” And on Tuesday Everton confirmed the former Barcelona and Inter Milan star’s move back to Italy, while the man himself confirmed that he has penned a deal until 2018.
The Everton striker was in Rome on Saturday for the tests at the Villa Stuart clinic, where he had his medical ahead of his move to Inter in 2009. It was even suggested the venue was chosen because the clinic still had his paperwork and it would therefore speed up the process – not unreasonable considering that his move has been dragged out for several weeks. “Successful Medical. Thank you Dr Parfait Ondo. Ready for a new Challenge!!!” wrote Eto’o on Twitter.
