The Lagos state government several months ago, commissioned the refuse disposal company Visionscape to clean up Lagos, as the city was becoming filthy.
In their bid to manage the waste gathered, Visionscape lit the moutainous heap of refuse on fire at the Olusosun Dumpsite, along the Lagos Ibadan expressway.
Leaving parts of the city covered by a thick cloud of smoke. Places affected by this environmental pollution were the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Toll gate, Magodo and parts of Alausa.
However the smoke was worse on the Lagos-Ibadan express way, considering it is closest to the dumpsite with the bonfire.
Leaving many asking a pertinent question, is Visionscape’s methodology for managing refuse that which pollutes the environment, while putting the life of residents who leave in that vicinity at risk?
