Huddersfield’s Billing Rejects Nigeria – Sees Himself As A Dane

Philip Billing

Philip Billing has ruled out any chances of him playing for the Super Eagles amidst speculation he’s been contacted by Gernot Rohr.

The Huddersfield Town midfielder is eligible to play for the African country because of his Nigerian decent.

Billing was born in Denmark and has represented the country in various age-grade levels.

Speaking to BT, the 22-year-old said he is only focused on playing for the Danish national team.

“I know my agents have said that Nigeria has approached them. There’s not much in it.

“That’s the most if I want to play for the Nigerian national team, so I think it could be possible. But that’s not something I’m thinking about.

Asked if there was any chance he’d switch nationality to play for the Super Eagles, he said:

“No, I see myself as a Dane, and I also play the Danish U21 national team. So no, I have not thought if I should be honest.”
