SS1 student with grenades arrested in Taraba

A secondary school student, Blessing has been arrested by the Nigerian police for allegedly trying to smuggle grenades into her school.

The student was apprehended by the school’s security guards while conducting routine checks on the student’s luggage, following their resumption for the second term.

Blessing who started attending the school September last year 2014 was said to have concealed the bombs inside foodstuffs (garri) in an attempt to smuggle it but was caught by the school’s security personnel.

The bomb disposal unit at the police headquarters were able to defuse the bombs.

Blessing and her father have been arrested by the Nigerian police.

Her father is said to be a retired Police Inspector from Numan in Adamawa state.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Joseph Kwaji, said both the girl and her father are under detention while investigation is being conducted into the matter.
