The students and business owners in the premises of the University of Lagos heave a shout for joy when the news of the removal of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Rahmon Bello, filtered in. The V.C. who had been running the school like a warlord was recently removed and replaced by Professor Ołuwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe.

It will be recollected that Professor Bello administration in the institution is filled with many controversial pronouncement ranging from the administration rationing water and electricity to students, it was based on this and the decision to increase the school fees without consultation that led to the protest whereby student union activity was proscribed in the school and the members of the union expelled.

He also place a ban on all social activities in the school, while restricting those who will contest for departmental position to only who had never had any course or any school before enrolling to be students of the school.

His last act is the decision for the school properties to take over the affairs and running of the student union building, source revealed that tenants in the building normally pays N7, 200 per square meter and in the same vein regulates the price of the wares being sold in the shops.

Originally the prices per year ranges between N20, 000 to N40,000, but he instructed the UNILAG properties to take over the new price now ranges between N300,000 to N1.5million, and that the prices of ware must remain the same. This has forced many people who cannot afford it to vacate their space with the vacated space allegedly going to his families and associates.

His removal according to sources is a blessing and answer to prayer of both the students and business owners in the school who he has been oppressing, while welcoming the new V.C. they want him to help reverse the hardship the Professor Rahmon Bello led administration had brought upon them by helping the institution regain its lost brilliance.
