The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris has made it known that any patient dissatisfied with treatment in Lagos State General Hospitals is free to lodge a complaint and it will be addressed.

He made this disclosure at the inaugural stakeholders’ forum hosted by the Alimosho Hospital management at Igando, with the theme: ‘Improving Quality Of Healthcare Delivery To Our Clients’.

Dr. Idris who was represented at the event by Mrs. Joan Oluyemi, Service Improvement Officer in the Ministry, noted that the satisfaction of patients should be a priority of every hospital in the State, stressing that the determination to provide satisfactory service to Lagosians informed the Service Charter initiative in the State Public Service.

He noted that the initiative aimed at meeting clients’ satisfaction, allowed for complaint, redress and feedback, adding that suggestion boxes have been placed at strategic locations in all public hospital premises for patients to lodge their complaints, remarks or recommendations.

The Commissioner also informed that another way the State Government is trying to further improve healthcare delivery services to the citizenry is the planned introduction of Health Insurance Scheme slated to kick-off in 2018.

Idris added that periodic training and retraining of medical personnel by the State government had also assisted in enhancing effectiveness and efficiency in the health sector.
