Liberia Vs Nigeria : Super Eagles Defeats Lone stars 2-1 In International Friendly

The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated hosts Liberia at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia three days after their victory in Seychelles..

The international friendly was played in respect of 1995 World footballer of the year and current Liberia president, George Weah.

President Weah also featured in the game with the crowd cheering and applauding his every touch for 79 minutes.

Everton winger Henry Onyekuru who’s presently on loan at Galatasary of Turkey gave the Eagles the lead in the first half when he fired into the top right corner before striker Simon Nwankwo doubled the visitors lead to give them a 2-0 half-time lead.

There were seven changers in the second half for the Eagles, including substitute appearances for the four home based player that joined the team.

Liberia pulled one back late on from the penalty spot, after Ajayi was adjugde to have handled the ball in the box.

The Liberian FA after the game decided to retire the jersey number 14 in honour of the president.
