Former Nigerian first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan will be 60 years old, come the 26th of October 2017, unlike her past birthday celebrations, no drums will be rolled out, to mark this joyous affair.
Information reaching Happenings.com.ng, revealed that close friends and well-wishers of the former first lady are planning to throw her a lavish party, in commemoration of the big 60, however they were shocked by Dame Jonathan’s refusal to have a lavish celebration organised for her.
Mama Peace as she is fondly called, will also not be approving the usual congratulatory messages, featured in major national newspapers. According to our source, she is citing the present harsh economic situation of the country, as a reason for her decision to have an austere birthday celebration.
Furthermore it is also revealed that her present disposition is not unconnected with the hard times she is currently facing at the hands of the present All Progressive Congress (APC) led administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It would be recalled, that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), acting on the injunctions of the Federal High court, is pushing for Dame Jonathan’s forfeiture of $5.8m to the Federal Government.
The funds are suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities, which Mama Peace have directed her aides to pay into her personal accounts between February 8, 2013 and January 30, 2015, while her husband was President.
Dissatisfied with the ruling, Patience Jonathan through her counsel Chief Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN) approached the the Court of Appeal, in a bid to challenge the ruling and also to ask that the order be vacated. However, the case has been adjourned to November 3rd 2017.
