Moby Dick is a 1956 film adaptation of Herman Melville’s novel Moby-Dick.

Starring Gregory Peck, the movie was New Bedford’s biggest civic event of the 1950s.

Directed by John Huston with a screenplay by Huston and Ray Bradbury, the film also starred Richard Basehart, and Leo Genn.

The music score was written by Philip Sainton.

This famous 1956 John Huston film “Moby-Dick,” was restored in wide-screen Blue-ray, made to mark the film’s 60th anniversary.

It was a 3-day extravaganza leading up to the New Bedford premiere of “Moby Dick” on June 27, 1956 and It was indeed a transformative experience for the City.
